?I create an assortment of eco-printed scarves and shawls by transferring natural plant materials’ pigments onto silk. I also design and create painterly felted scarves, tops, tunics, and dresses using merino or merino-tencel roving, to create garments with no seams. Therefore, they are fully reversible and can be worn four ways, providing a whole washable wardrobe in one garment.

?I work with natural fibers and plant materials in the form of merino wool, tencel, silk rovings and flowers, leaves, berries and bark and use water to transfer and imbed these materials into natural fabrics, such as silk, silk-wool, linen, cotton, rayon, to create a new fabric that is more than the sum of its parts. Water is the key to all of this. The surface design of my pieces are built in layers of abstract and discernible patterns—reflecting back on their material’s origins and creating the emergent properties of texture, color, drape, feel and fit of the garment. Wet felting and eco printing are ancient crafts, brought into modernity in the form of wearable art.

My studio is in Orchard Country at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Crozet with a wonderful view of the mountains, which provides endless inspiration for my scarves and garments.
