?Middlesex County, a coastal peninsula on the Chesapeake Bay invites you to experience our laid -back life on the Rapphannock and Piankatank Rivers. Rich in coastal art, history, boating, fishing, camping, locally harvested seafood and waterfront dining. You’ll find so many coastal artists, mostly passionate ones whom choose to live obscurely in the peaceful setting by the river for inspiration. The annual fine arts festival “Arts in the Middle” is a two day event held at the Hewick Planation in the first weekend of June. If your a foodie or into culinary arts, we are the home of the Urbanna Oyster Festival and Champion Oyster Shucker, Deborah Pratt! While your visiting you won’t want to miss our dirt car racing at the Virginia Motor Speedway and catch a game at the iconic 1948 Deltaville Ballpark. The Deltaville Maritime Museum hosts events like waterfront concerts, farmers markets and family boat building camp. Stay at the three time award winning RV resort, Bethpage Camp Resort that offers rental cottages, a water park, mini-golf and ice cream parlor.

Middlesex County was founded in 1673. The County is a coastal peninsula with 135 miles of shoreline surrounded by the Rappahannock River and the Piankatank River and the Chesapeake Bay. Rich in art, history, boating, fishing, camping, locally harvested seafood and waterfront dining, it is a perfect destination for a getaway from the everyday rush. Step into the life of a laid-back river community and enjoy a campfire, a sunset, fresh crabs & oysters or a boat ride with that special somone.
