ImageWerks is a creative studio featuring the photography & art of GC Schow (digital art) & Kathy Strauss (photography & mixed media artist). We invite you to come visit, view & talk art with “one of a kind” local artists.

Led by husband and wife team GC Schow and Kathy Strauss, ImageWerks LC is a creative communications studio with more than 35 years of experience in visual storytelling. We live in a visual world – surrounded by photos, video, and all sorts of design on a daily basis. The story you tell through these images should reflect the importance of what they represent. Whether it is the day you say “I do”, a new website for your company, or fine art for your home or office… ImageWerks crafts your visual story in a way that has impact and balance and—most importantly—stands the test of time.

We invite you to come visit us in our home studio. At our studio we can take your photos or help you craft the perfect display of art for your home or business. We look forward to sharing our original art & photography with you today.

About GC

I am a versatile painter who works in acrylics and watercolors. I bring to my work a unique combination of elements—originality, artistic, personal, and professional. My art is heavily influenced by 1900 French impressionism in their use of color and line. My paintings are intended to spark memories and emotion to the viewer’s mind of things that they have seen or felt in their life.

Originally from Ogden Utah, I was educated as an illustrator/graphic designer at the Washington School of Art (LA Art Institute). I also hold a BS in small business management. My 30+ years of study, experience and technique experimentation in the art field led to the development of my signature style.

In 2000, I discovered that I could use my computer and software as a paint brush to create original art. Using my computer as a brush is an ideal way for expressing how I see my world. Using the application of layers, and blending pigment/pixels & textures into one another—the image can literally be created in the computer. These computer generated images are then placed on a variety of surfaces (paper, canvas, cloth, or metal). Once applied to a surface, I finish it with more strokes and colors. Each piece “speaks for itself” and when seen in the context of my background, ideas, and nontraditional technique—my paintings and art indicate a breadth & depth to my work.

About Kathy

Designer, photographer, creative coach, artist, teacher, community leader—her motto is: “Live life, love life, paint life, create life! I love showing people that as humans, we are innately creative & everyone’s an artist. I love sharing my passion of creativity, taking pictures, telling stories, and giving back. I’m an artist, photographer… I am a visual storyteller”.

The camera is an extension of how Kathy sees the world. She looks to connect her imagery to her viewer—showing a right brain person’s view of the world. From that simple blade of grass, to the stark graphic look of a building, to the sparkling eyes of the bride and groom, she captures beauty with her lens. She knows she’s done her job when a person looks at her photographs and they know they’ve “seen a story.”

After receiving her certification as a Creatively FitTM Coach, she shares her artist’s view of life through her creative classes, these classes help others to understand the importance of creative vision and perspective. Her students learn to bring creative thinking into their lives and workplace, tapping into their stores of innovation and enthusiasm for life. Her programs are tailored to young & old alike—students, educators, corporate, healthcare, seniors or military. Some of the workshops she teaches are: Wine, Nibbles & Scribbles, Creative Storytelling, Your Artist Within, Paint Your Pet, and Making Your Mark.

She is also a member of the Arches Gallery Artists at the Workhouse Arts Center, where she serves as President and exhibits her work.
